Lion of Juda murrine by Strobel

  « Dave Strobel's Gallery

(Millefiori / Murrini Beads)

Lion of Juda murrine by Strobel I dont normally post individual murrine, but this one I think deserves it. Most murrine take me a day or two to make, this one took five full days. The lion in the flag is the same one that's in the chip next to it.
An afterthought: I owe big props to Mike Warren for his first lion way back in 98? I was moved by his work so much, I started making murrine the next month.
PROPS TO OLDSCHOOL!

Dave Strobel
My name is Dave Strobel, I've been blowing glass since 1991. I started with softglass hotshop work for a year, then moved into borosilicate scientific fabrication and repair for a few years, moving into boro artglass exclusively in 1995. The past six years have been spent with a very high emphasis on boro murrini; both making and using them.
I now live in the SF Bay area making boro murrini for distributors, businesses, and artists. I also have an extensive line of paperweights, tiles, and marbles that I make in my spare time. My new website will be up soon. Until then, send questions to my temporary email.
Thank you for everyone's interest and support over the years!
Thank you all for your feedback- both positive and negative is always appreciated.

Your murrini
A nice one. Always love what I have bought from you.Last I heard Mike Warren went back to logging.. I bought his Beth torch, a paddle , a marble mold and some wonderful piece of murrini that are the huge ends, including that lion. These items are all in the Glass Lampworking collection of Antique and History of Glass Blowing collection at Trev's Glass Shop.
