(Glass Sculptures)

"What the fuck is that, master ???" "That's an Acklay, padawan!"...
this is based on one of the monsters from the Geonosis arena scene of SW EpII. It's 18" diagonally across and just scraped into my little day kiln.

This is just a guess.
But I take it you like Star Wars. I wish I still had my Empire lunch pale and thermos. My neighbor bought one at the goodwill and I almost shit over how cool it was.

Nice sculpture.

watch out !!
one of my buds had some lawyers from disney show up at his shop with some scary lawsuit because he was making some mickey sculpture...Don't sell it. If you make any $$$$ off a liscensed immage without writen permission (and in most cases up front royalty fees) you can get smacked with a lawsuit. Awesome work. It looks like you have much skill and tallent. keep it up.

very good point, C.E.
first of all thanks to everyone for your extremely encouraging comments on all our works you've commented on! This one especially was both hair-raising and fun to make.
the copyright issue is an interesting one. the problem with disney is that they have their own glassblowers making disneyana. however, there is a point on such things, though, which comes under "artistic license". If there wasn't, every little kid drawing or making a tie-fighter out of cardboard could be potentially sued! I'm not afraid to get sued for being inspired by a certain thing for artistic purposes (although I wouldn't exactly call it "art" ... unless I make it eat G W Bush, for example). If you look closely at the sculpture, it's not an exact copy, but rather my own interpretation of the thing. many artists (lots of painters for example) use images from disney, etc, and don't get sued, because they work on exactly this principle ... interpretation ... rather than a copy. it will be stated, when this goes up for sale, that it's in no way an official lucas arts product, and completely unendorsed, but rather my own interpretation of it. It's all in the wording.
