Air Trap Anemone Marbles

Air Trap Anemone Marbles

Posted by Anakin on 4/9/2007
When I first showed this design the first comment I got was "it looks like one of those coral reef anemones." Hence the name. It's not the most complicated design but I take pride in it's clean and precise execution.

Multicolor Air Trap Anemones

Here's the latest - multicolor air trap anemones. Just trying to squeeze a bit more life out of this design. Endless color combination possibilities, I hope.

The Nuclear Anemone

The Nuclear Anemone

Here's one that was just begging to be made. The Uranium glass air trap anemone. It's about 1-3/4" in diameter.

Looking at the pics brings back fond memories of working at the nuclear power plant, standing over an open reactor vessel during refueling (Not!!!), checking out the Cherenkov radiation. What's Cherenkov radiation? Check out Wikipedia.

Double Sided Air Trap Anemone

Double Sided Air Trap Anemone

Here's a few double sided air trap anemones. I have to give Sabina full credit for this idea. I met her at Wheaton and she showed me one of her double sided air trap marbles. It was a Duh! moment for me for sure. Thanks Sabina for the inspiration! I don't make many of these.

I've been working with glass for about five years now, mostly part-time. In the last year and a half, my focus has primarily been marble making with borosilicate. Once in a while I'll mix it up with soft glass beads and jewelry, boro beads, and functional pieces.
