They joy of working with and knowing U.L. code 1598, is you can make thiings much brighter and safer than you ever could just designing and constructing off the top of your head. Each lit sculpture has 400 watts of incandescent illumination

Thanks again to Eddie and Angela Bernard and all the folks at the New Orleans Creative Glass Institute or NOCGI.. Jimmy and I spent many hours, blowing hundreds of pounds of glass to complete all 5 of Craves Sculptures.

Due to some last minute changes from the G.C, we had to shrink/cut one of the completed frames 5" to fit the space. All of the interior raceway wiring used 200c-18 gauge wire, and SPT-2 wire to get from the J-Box to the frame.

They may look big and heavy, but each fixture weighs under 104lbs. That still never stops me from testing each mounting plate to be sure it's safe...

Have yet to get good photos (they were still completing construction when we finished) but the top of each basket has iridescent glass flowers that project amazing colors onto the ceiling.

The balls are a mixture of earth toned reds, yellows, and oranges. Each ball was coated with an iridescent luster, then quenched in water (while hot) to "crackle", then reduced to create contrast with the base color. Light reflects off each ball.

For those of y'all building chandeliers and lamps without a U.L. license be forewarned: what you are doing is not only unsafe, but is also in violation of N.E.C. (National Electric Code) and in many cases ILLEGAL!!!

That being said, I love some of the work y'all are making, and I am more than willing to help with any of your N.E.C. questions. I just want our glass community to be a safe one. "Code is Code for a reason, it separates amateurs from pros"

For those of y'all who wondered... In order to remain temperature test exempt as stated in section 7.2 of U.L. 1598, I only used incandescent bulbs that are easily changed.
