Born in 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia, Andrew Jackson Pollack has been an artist all his life. Raised by parents involved in the arts, he was introduced to the mediums of ceramics and glass at an early age; making and marketing his first beads, from polymer clay, at the age of 14. Though predominately self-taught in glass, he has received numerous scholarships to prestigious centers, such as, Penland, Red Deer College, and the Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass. There, Andrew has studied among some of the top artists of his field. In 2005, he recieved a scholarship to assist, artist, Brian Kerkvleit with two, two week workshops at Penland and Red Deer College. As a member of the faculty at the New Orleans School of Glassworks, Andrew is in charge of coordinating the Lampworking Department. He also distributes kilns for Olympic Kilns out of Atlanta. He has devoted himself to the exploration of his medium, teaching and making art full time for the past four years.

Made Summer 2005. Two pieces on this page are still available, and they are two of Andrew's favorites. These are the Montage Sake Set and the Octopus Goblet that Andrew made last summer while assisting Brian Kerkvliet, at Penland School of Crafts. As a TA, Andrew gained invaluable experience from Brian and others. The other three pieces featured on this page were made using murinne, overlay, and graal techniques. Please enjoy.

all post-Katrina/Rita. I could not sit around. I had to keep me and my friends busy and employed. Thanks to Tiffany Kahrs for colaborating with me on many of these necklaces. We dug through all of my beads from demos from past Atlanta workshops and found enough to make the majority of these pieces.

Wire Wrapped and PMC Jewelry With Glass Cabs 2005

Wire Wrapped and PMC Jewelry With Glass Cabs 2005

The glass cabs were all done by myself, as well as the PMC jewelry. I can only take credit for a couple of the wire wrapping jobs, though. My mother is a natural jeweler and she did a couple. Tiffany Kahrs was the wire wrapping machine - figuring out new techniques by the second. Just wait and see what kind of collaborations happen next!

Aquarium Beads and Paperweights 2004-2005

These beads are made with my own fish murrine inserted inside a tube with twisties, fumed dots, etc... and then condensed down. They are assembled into necklaces, using semi-prescious stones - onyx, coral, pearls, czek crystal, etc.. All findings are either bali or sterling silver.

Goblets and Candy Dishes (pre 2004)

Goblets and Candy Dishes (pre 2004)

An assortment of goblets and candydishes, all one of a kind. Some are meant to be more sculptural than functional. Actually, many of these are from my first explorations into the goblet as a form. Lampworking a glass goblet or "cup" allows many techniques to be employed in the creation. It is one of Andrew's favorite forms to make in glass, because it challenges many of the aspects of glass and forces the artist to push the limits of the medium. Compare this page with Andrew's New Work page and see his evolution.

Lamps

Lamps

No lathe, hand worked ~30", marble base. More images of lighting to come soon. Can do custom lamps. These lamps generally start around $250.
