I am really a mixed-media artist, and I tend to use whatever media seems most appropriate to express a certain idea, but again and again I am drawn back to glass to say what I need to say. While a graduate student in Glass at Tulane University, I spent time trudging through some of the great swamps and bayous that surround New Orleans. Out the these experiences the Swamp Series was born--large-scale wallpieces of fused glass and steel. In a sense these are really large fused glass mosaics that attempt to capture my sensations while deep in the swamp. More recently, my work has turned from wallpieces to sculpture, and I've been stacking Borosilicate glass to create a series of pieces I call "Borostack". I think of these pieces as mosaics, also.
