I worked as a studio tech, but primarily as an installer and repairman (master glazier) in the stained
glass trade for 25 years The majority of my bigger pieces incorporate salvaged glass from church jobs, I worked on different times on Taffany, La Farge, Gorham, Meyer, and at one time FOR J&R Lamb. On the morning I walked into Montgomery Ward and saw two acres of exquisite chinese Tiffany lamps for less than I could buy the glass, I gave up on the manufacture of autonomous pieces . The industry became too cutthroat in the late 80's with the immaculate conception of "experts" who as in many fields, armed with a shief of imaginary credentials, and a mouth full of slander and pen full of libel, established themselves as the arbiters of process. I found a nice niche market making architectural pieces for downtown revitalization projects.
