Alwin Overwater is a Glassblower, and since 1997 is producing work in a nostalgic workshop in the Friesian village of Exmorra. He was born in 1967 in the Northern Dutch village of “De Kwakel “which the Glass Works was named after. A “Quakeltje “ or “ Kwakeltje “ is a very small bridge of which is typical in this village, in combination with his surname “Overwater “ made a pleasant Trade name.
Alwin did his apprenticeship in the Leiden School of Instruments makers, where first class instruments makers are trained .Their are three departments and Alwin choose to make glass instruments, with patience and training he finished his apprenticeship in laboratory Glass. After seven years practise in laboratory glass Alwin couldn’t ignore his calling to the Artistic side of Glass. After Three and a half years experience in Aalsmeer, Alwin and his wife Barbara moved to Exmorra.
This is where the Art finally bloomed and can be seen in the work being produced in Alwins speciality Flowers….. Tulips, Roses,

Sleipner Motor 100 years The company founded in 1908 is based in Norway, and at one time was the largest manufacturer of marine engines in Norway; it was later in their history that they moved on to specialize in bow thrusters. In 2008 Side-Power is the world leading manufacturer of bow trusters. In may they have their 100 year celebration. Asa Boot Electro which has been the Side-Power distributor in the BeNeLux for many years has been in contact with Glasblazerij 't Quakeltje to present them a special gift based on the centennial series trusters. Twan Bogert stated: We congratulate Sleipner with their 100 year anniversary and as a token of our appreciation for our mutual relation we want to present you a piece of art which is made with great workmanship, which also stands for Sleipner Motor AS as a company.

A "Quakeltje " or " Kwakeltje " is a very small bridge of which is typical in this village, in combination with his surname "Overwater " made a pleasant Trade name. There are different techniques how glass objects can be formed, Alwin uses a burner and glass staffs or tubes and colour can be added either by glass pellets or coloured staffs.
