These are my designs for a "River Delta" front entry door for a private residence. This artwork will be made of 1/2" thick, heavily textured, kiln fired glass; held in place and protected by a copper and steel frame. Large glass sections will transmit light in throughout the day, and will provide a stunning front entry in the evening. It mounts directly to the existing door, but can be removed and taken by the client. These designs and concepts are copy written, and are my property. They may not be used or copied in any fashion without my express written consent, Andrew Brott

This window will be made using "copper foil" stained glass construction techniques. The edges of each glass pieces will be covered in copper foil, and then soldered into the steel skeleton.

Sometimes form must follow function. Due to this doors position and speed of closer, this artwork must be made impact resistant, and able to withstand years of heavy use and abuse as a main entry.

The metal skeleton begins the flow or carving of a delta, and the glass is the water that flows from these channels. Large (but very strong) sections of kiln fired glass similar to this sample, fill the sections between the metal framing.

A strong steel frame or skeleton is required (especially on the left side) to protect this window from the "shoulders" and "shopping carts" of daily use. These are my preliminary sketches. It will have a plated antique bronze finnish.

I plan to use sections of copper "overlay" similar to this drawing; notice how some of the ends in this metal skeleton do not connect. They will be metal overlays of copper and solder directly on the glass surface.

The next two sketches are color studies, and do NOT represent the colors I plan to use for this project. Glass samples will need to be made, and my designs finalized, before I can begin...

In keeping with the aesthetic of the space, the Interior Decorator (Gary Killough) wanted to add some form of classical architecture. This was my research; notice the "Ionic" elements in the next drawing.
