My work consists primarily of finding a balance between the forces which I can govern and those which are out of my control. Glass is a living material with a powerful will of its own that can not be forced. It must be enticed and teased before it will do what I am asking. It is a game of give and take.

My recent work has been a study of the interaction between the human body, and compounded assemblages that become environments. I have juxtaposed massive steel machine parts against delicate details, to create work that shares its space with its audience and engages them at multiple scales. With this in mind, I envision my work as moving towards elaborate spatial compositions of objects plucked from their native contexts and rearranged to form compositional narratives.

My forms are the manifestations of tension and release. By creating unstable admixtures, I am exploring the physical limits of glass and demonstrating the beauty of catastrophe. Designing systems that must fail, in order to survive, fascinates me. Captured moments in time -- Light frozen at room temperature. These systems are snapshots of other worlds where spontanous events compliment methodical preperation. They are images of the structure of our universe manifested and magnified countless times. The final product is an object of wonder. A unique form which is simultaneously aeonian and instantanious. A wedding of human creativity and delicate physical processes of which I am keenly aware.

Beautiful work!
But Uri, do you think it was necessary to upload so many images at once? You bumped some lovely work off of the main page. Not very nice for the artists that just uploaded new galleries. Perhaps you would consider doing it differently next time? Terri
