Well, recent events made me sit back and ponder my current works and how to branch off in a different direction. It was like a light bulb went off over my head as I was messing around on the torch making floral cane. Do scenic beads featuring geisha! So I flattened my glass into a tab shape to give me a canvas and began making geisha in more of a portrait format. Here are my first attempts at this new style. Oh and yes, I still will continue to make my classic geisha beads with the smiling eyes. I just needed to step out of my comfort zone for a bit. Hope you like them.

This geisha is looking up and raising her arms, wanting the prettiest and biggest bloom. Still a bit out of reach isn't it?

I've been drawing since I could hold a crayon, thanks to my mother who is also an artist. It wasn't until I began working with hot glass May 2005 that something really sparked inside of me. As a self-taught glass artist, I hope my beads are just the beginning of a long and adventurous career into this astounding medium.
