The "Bundled Bridge" collapses please help!!! Sometimes things don't work out like I planed, thus far (9-13-06) my "Bundled Bridge" has been a failure. Below are my original drawings and concepts to show a client my design proposal. I received approval, but when your work is based on experimentation… I would love to give it another try (as with hundreds of other concepts), but my money and time has run out. Contact me @ andy@brottworks.com if your willing to sponsor another attempt. FYI: This was not a total failure; I used the “scraps” to make “Bridge Tied”… Go to my “bundles” page for the details.

For most of my commissioned projects, I make work to fit into a specific space. This client has a table that is 36" long, and 15" wide with a painting above. I photo- copied many of these outline boxes, and made "concept" drawings to fit the space.

Once I have a concept set to scale, I must draw what I am about to make. Client “X”, please click on this and any of the other images for details. This metal and stone base will suspend two glass bundles.

As with all my work, my artist statement guides what I do. This piece is based on a suspension bridges, bundled cables, and glass that's performing a function. What that is, I have no idea, but it works.

Made and sold this piece (?) years ago. Sorry for the bad photos, but next few picks will illustrate the construction techniques I plan to use.

I have too many ideas, and not enough time to make them all. One of them deals with these natural shapes, and the mysterious reasons why the glass is doing this. I hope to use mystery as a design element.

Cannot recall the year I made this, but I remember it being very large and heavy. All of the pieces where made with hundreds of thinly cut glass strips, that were bundled, fired, and bent into the shapes you see.

Note to client “X”; hope you are able to read these drawings, and get an idea on what I plan to make for your home. Please give me a call on Monday.
