(Glass Sculptures)

Borosilicate Sculptures and Figurines I love making sculptures. I keep trying to push the boundries of what I'm capable of, thus I surprise myself on a regular basis.

Installation - eventually

Installation - eventually

These are the elements for an installation I want to do. I have many, many more to make. This particular shape and/or shapes inspired by it tend to come up a lot in my work.

Reactionary

Reactionary

This the first of several pieces I have ideas for. These ideas are usually born out of frustration or irritation with the pretension of the "Art Scene", artists, or art students. The resulting ideas tend to be more than a bit snarky. But, hey, at least I've got a sense of humor, right?

Figures

Figures

I feel that the human form is one of the most accessible and expressive subjects to use in sculpture. I enjoy the challange of creating figures in glass as well as the limitless possibilities for expression that they allow.

Here be dragons.

As a result of a commission to do a glass dragon, I made several. I think I may make more.

I am also inspired by the beauty of nature. I am constantly in awe of Mother Nature's color palette. These pieces range in size from about 4"-12" at their largest dimension.

My name is Malissa Kuznicki and I live in the "Glass City" A.K.A Toledo, Ohio. I've been working with glass since 2003. I started out with slumping and fusing but in 2004 I found flameworking and have done very little fusing since. I've also taken several off-hand glassblowing classes at the Glass Pavilion. Up to this point I've had no formal instruction in flameworking but thanks to books, videos, and some wonderful on-line communities, I'm learning something new everyday!
