in answer to the question above: No, me and most furnace workers make reticello in much the same way as its been made since the 14th century-two filigrana collar pickups (somewhat akin to stick stacking) are twisted in opposite directions and blown into cups, then one is dropped inside the other and fused together on the pipe. The cane ridges intersect and trap a bubble in the center of each cell.
