Implosion Flower Marbles

Implosion Flower Marbles

Posted by Anakin on 5/14/2006
It has been a personal quest of mine to master the various techniques used in making implosion flowers. I've figured out many techniques on my own but I have a long way to go.

July 06' Update: I'm getting there! I've figured out many things and now just need to work on the color combos and petal designs.

Here's some new flowers. I'm again working on the tech and I will not give up until I'm satisfied. I continue trying the same design, similar colors and change my technique slightly to see the affect it has and the end result. I'm trying to get a deeper bloom and more spread. I'm not 100% satisfied, but I'm getting there.

Fume Flowers

Fume Flowers

In the beginning, my obsession with marbles was fueled by John Kobuki and Sabina's flowers. As I developed some of my own designs, I got away from flowers. I've been spending some quality time lately trying to perfect flower techniques. At the same time, I'm trying to develop new styles and applications of gold and silver fume. I am quite happy with the results. Have a look. Lemme know what you think.

I've been working with glass for about five years now, mostly part-time. In the last year and a half, my focus has primarily been marble making with borosilicate. Once in a while I'll mix it up with soft glass beads and jewelry, boro beads, and functional pieces.
