Lamp Seminoles

  « Glass - Agate-Lamps

(Art Glass Lamps & Lighting)

Lamp Seminoles The columne of this lamp is 600mm high and made out of one disc Sectrum glass.

The agate slice on its top reminds me of the FSU logo. I am a fan of the Seminoles and their great coach Bobby Bowden.

Agate and glass
I really like your agate-topped lamps. I would be interested in knowing what light source you use - halogen? A standard or mini bulb? What wattage? I ask because it looks like your lamp would get really hot with a regular (Edison base) bulb. I have the same problem with some of my designs.

I made a lamp using many pieces of agate bevel cut and foiled together into a tortoise shell about 9" by 7", maybe 2" deep. I used a wet-blade diamond tile saw (continuous rim, 1/16" kerf) to cut the pieces but it still took forever!

When I delivered it to the gallery, the first person who saw it, bought it. I'm sure I priced it too low, but after all those hours all I could see were the little flaws. I only have a small picture, not digital, unfortunately, but I'll try to copy and post it.

I use normal 40 Watt bulbs, and because the objects are open at the backside they do not becomes too hot.

I am only grinding my agate slices with fine heads at last to prevent the eridicate on its surface.
