First Blown Egret Attempt

I am part of a group in Yakima, WA that is trying to raise funds for a soft glass studio. ( www.bellavitra.com ) We did a fundraiser on April 28th at The Spring Barrel Tasting event put on by local wineries. It involved art and wine barrels. My friend Sandi Drury did the slumped glass and I did the blown glass. We kind of had to rush this one, but I'm going to have to do another one of these for sure.

Finished project 618 x 768 pixels (196 KB) 0 Comments Someone with a case of wine broke off the cattail before I could get a picture, so I'll have to fix it.		Egret 224 x 376 pixels (22 KB) 0 Comments This is the picture I looked at to blow out the body sections.		Blown part 976 x 700 pixels (143 KB) 0 Comments I blew two sections and welded them together at the neck.
Silver fume around eye/beak 576 x 768 pixels (85 KB) 0 Comments I used Egyptian white sand unencased for the body, and caramel/Onyx for the beak and eyes. I'm going to sandblast the next one, and maybe some oil paint?		Waving it in the flame 933 x 700 pixels (157 KB) 0 Comments Trying to heat it up slowly.		Heating up the leg attachments 933 x 700 pixels (180 KB) 0 Comments Gotta love the herbie, smooth as butter.
