Here I am starting the installation. After I built it in my garden I had to take it apart and rebuild it in the house of the person who commissioned it.

I have been working with glass for about 9 years. I first started in my senior year at UC Santa Cruz as a Biology Major. About halfway through my senior year I got a basic lampworking setup and by the time I graduated I was making enough money to survive. Since then I have been working hard to build my studio, my knowledge, and to continually advance as a glassblower. My first few years I had very little influence from other glassblowers and recently I have realized that there are a lot of talented and inspirational artists out there and I am glad I finally feel like I am becoming part of the glassblowing community. Answer
I was waiting to answer the question until I posted the photos of me assembling the chandelier. The yellow structure is a frame I welded out of steel rod and then painted yellow.

I used stainless steel zip ties.

Question
So I am getting ready to attempt something like this and I was wondering. Did you drill holes through your chandelier's "arms" in order to attach them?

Thanks

Answer
If by "arms" you mean the glass pieces, then no, I just blew holes out near the ends and then flame cut the ends to make an in & out for the zip ties. The arms of the steel frame were welded on as was the rest of the frame. If you do make a chandelier email me when you post it cuz I'd be interested to see it. TL
