"Posting Glass Pipes on GlassArtists.org
----------------------------------------
Because non-functional pipe pieces have started to crop up I have further clarified the "no pipes" rule for GlassArtists.org. Functional pipe pieces may not be posted, and non-functional pipe art is allowed. A
non-functional pipe is one that is either impossible or would be very difficult to actually use as a smoking device, one that is a part of a larger art piece, or one that is so large, awkward, or otherwise impractical that it's very unlikely that it's owner would ever consider using it as a smoking device. I think to most of you who make pipes this distinction should be fairly clear but if you have a true borderline case let me know and I will consider it. Please note that I will not make an
exception just because a pipe is especially elaborate, beautiful, expensive or artistic, as long as it looks like it COULD be used as a
functional piece." -from site admin

dude....
those last two really rock. a lot of my older work deals with the disfunctionality of utilitarian objects- the whole major arts vs. minor arts vs. utlilitarian vs. decorative debate and thats really what those last two talk about ( to me at least, i'm not sure if that was your intent or not )
as far as censorship is concerned.... why is that an issue with these? i'm not sure i understand how someone could get offended or complain about these- i mean.....yeah. i dont get it.

For the record...
I asked Pakoh to remove FUNCTIONAL pieces from this site, which is the same rule that has always applied to everyone here. Pakoh if you're going to cry censorship at least tell the whole story, as you cen see by the responses you're misleading people.

Think you misunderstood Dew...
I never said these pieces ought to be removed, and I think it was misleading of Pakoh to make it seem as if I did. Like I said before "I asked Pakoh to remove FUNCTIONAL pieces from this site." As to why I bumped these from the front page, I did it because I have no interest in giving front page exposure to someone who's trying to get members of this site angry at me by misleading them into thinking I am asking for the removal of nonfunctional pieces.

?????
It seems as though this attention to the definition of pipe and art is irrelevant. The only artists whom concern themselves with this are those who are insecure about their pipemaking. I understand that by making pipe forms without function it tries the existing definition of a pipe, but is it pertinent to the rest of the glass art world?

Pakoh
is that your final answer?

Yes it is, just trying to voice my opinion carefully without starting any wars. I know how sensitive you guys can be.
