LLuvia Brito's GalleryPosted by LLuvia Brito on 7/27/2003Borosilicate glass beads, pendants, and jewelry made by 27 year old glass artist LLuvia Brito. Working in boro for the past 8 years, glass for 14 years. Borosilicate sculpted flowers have been my real passion, they quickly evolved from six petal sunflowers to multi-layered dahlias. I've been working on these flower designs and styles since September 2002. They are my favorite because of the freedom and creativity involved. I use a Bethlehem Barracuda torch, OG-15 oxy generator, and have a small bead kiln. I use Glass Alchemy and Northstar colors in my work.
Recently I have become a full time student at NAU and have shifted my glass work to part-time. I still hope to continue to devote lots of time and creativity to my work, however I might not have as much available! I am studying sociology. I am sure that where-ever life takes me lampworking will be an important part of my life. Images

One of the most important parts of working with hard glass is "playing" with all of the wonderful colors and possibilities each one offers. This gallery includes most of the colors I've used in each bead. You might notice the large quantity of different designs used throughout these beads, part of the nature of my relationship with glass is a short attention span. I love to discover new techniques, however I hate to do any of them over and over. |

Handmade glass dahlias, sunflowers, orchids, daffodils, pansies, and many other types of sculpted flowers. Beads and pendants made either freehand or on mandrels. Flowers range in size from 2 1/4 inches to 1 1/4 inch. |

Jewelry made from borosilicate glass beads, gemstones, and Bali findings. This year jewelry design has become much more prominent in my life. Recently a set of jewelry made by me was shown in a local gallery exhibition and I've begun to sell my work in galleries in Arizona. |

I make pendants two ways, first if making the pendant and doing a glass loop and second is attaching the pendant to a bead loop. |

I can't say that I'm going for a true to life style here, but I love to abstract the features of sea turtles, especially the shells! I don't make these often, the 'turtle shell' takes quite a bit of time but I love them! |
