Glass Art Society demonstration 2005 Ya'll, I'm putting up some pictures of the demonstration I did in Australia this summer at the GAS conference. It's a pretty comprehensive look at the assembly of one of my large bottles. I'm going to be teaching at several schools this summer and hope to give a demo similar to what is shown towards the end of each class. I'm hoping to draw some students through glassartists since it's the largest grouping of torchers out there. Every time I get on the site I see new folks with great potential in flameworking, and hope to spread the knowledge that was given to me through instruction in glass. I hope everyone takes a class this summer. The schedules are filled with talent from school to school. Take anybodys class before mine, but if not check out my website www.blownglass.ws. On the teaching page are all the dates for the schools that I'll be at along with links to thier sites. Check out all the schools and all the folks teaching everywhere. Friends to be made, fun to be had, don't miss out.

Craftsmanship. Technique. Intrigue. Form. Concept. non-conformity. All of these are values that I feel make one's work pertinent.

At times I concentrate on design and form, repeatedly producing a blown shape, aiming to create it with control and uniformity. I explore the nuances of each shape that I come across in the process. Other days I watch the glass and follow it's lead. However, without the ability to bring out symmetrical, balanced shapes at the torch I would feel no license to let the glass speak for itself or just hang where it may.

I mean to express in my work a conscious and purposeful execution of these ideas.

did I spy a Shelbo...Mike finds his way into all the shots. I have footage of Pino from when we were in collage, and he found his way into the background in almost every shot.
