Thanks for visiting my site. I am Manuel Amezcua.I was born and raised in Orange County California, I currently live in the beautiful mountains of Cheshire, Oregon. I have been flameworking since 1996. I have studied under David Willis, Mike Plane, and Thomas Muller Litz. I am most intrested in making goblets but I also very much enjoy sculpting insects, flowers, and making marbles, beads and pendants with my daughter Josie, sons Alex and Eli, and my wife McKenzie. I am currently working at the Eugene Glass School as a Shop Tech and Private Instructor.

My daughter josie and I competed Aug. 26 at the flameoff in Eugene. It was pretty cool. Josie had a blast working in front of an audience.Wish I was that chill. We got to meet and kick it with a lot of amazing talent, and catch up with old friends. Was really cool to meet some of the regulars on GlassArtists too.Congratulations to all this years winners, it was a pleasure competing with you! There was some really tough competition this year, but everybody kicked ass! Thanks to Winship Designs for sponsoring Josie and to Eugene Glass School staff for their love and support! After many Years of hard work, it has just all come together! This is a replica of the piece I did in the Eugene Glass School Flameoff Competition in Aug. 2005. Thought I would redo without time limits and Audience watching. Thanks for taking the time to view my work!

I had the opportunity to take a fine goblet making class with Dave Willis Feb. 4-5 at Eugene Glass School. This class was really good! I had taken his class last year and got down the basics of goblets such as hollow stems, avoglios, and flaring feet. This class I got to focus more on cup shape and wall thickness. As far as the handles, I've known how for a long time but never really tried. So here they are, my first two tries I did last week. I really enjoy the complicated and intricate techniques involved in this style of goblet stems. Thanks for visiting and enjoy.

I got the opportunity to help out with Stephanie Sercich and Dustin Tabor's class at EGS a few ago and my daughter Josie was invited to join in on the fun.It was really cool. Dustin and Stephanie are great teachers and fun to hang out with.I highly recommend their class if you ever get the chance! As for Josie, she has a lot of torch time planned for this summer and she also plans on competing in the EGS Flameoff this year! She has a lot of support from her mother and I as well as friends and family. It's really exciting to watch her skill level progress little by little. We'll see what happens!

These are some pics from a class I took last August with Thomas Muller Litz of Lauscha, Germany. Thomas is a yodeling, blues piano playing ACDC fan. Working with soft glass was weird at first, after a few hours of pulling points and flaring goblet feet I got it down and was able to come through with some functional pieces. Thomas is a good teacher and a good person, if you ever get the chance to work with him take it. Thank you for taking the time and intrest in viewing my work!
