The pendants are fused once then masked off and designs are cut out. They are then put into a sandblaster and sand carved until the desired look is achieved. Some are then put back into the kiln and fire polished. Others are also cut on a glass saw. Pictures don't do them justice....at least mine dont. :)

Normally I don't do series type work but these vessels have been selling well and I am having fun making them. I want to keep them all slightly different from one another and will continue to do so by using different glass combinations. As well as varying the number of calla lily's I put on them

Kumi Himo is the art of Japanese Braiding. It is done on a doughnut shaped loom with 8 or more strands of fiber and or strings of glass beads.
The strands of fiber and beads are attached to wooden spools with a rubberband to hold them in place. (I will attach a picture of the loom at a later date.)
I recently learned how to do it from one of my friends and had my husband build me a loom. I decided I liked Kumi Himo enough to justify my husband spending all that time building me a loom.

THis is my newest work 7-20-04. It was inspired by a friend of mine who works with paper and fiber. The drift wood was picked up along the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota where I was doing an art show in Grand Marais. I really like the mixture of the softness of the fiber and hardness of the glass. I feel they compliment each other nicely.

I am inspired by tribal designs espically by the Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest. These are designs are inspired by the Haida designs with my own interpretation.

I decided to use up some of my excess glass on these pieces. Pieces that were to small to do much with. This is what I came up with. At least for a few of them. I have many more ideas but have not got around to doing them yet. I am off to an art show this weekend. Hopefully I will sell them. :) These are kind of test pieces for me so if you have some suggestions I would love to hear them.
