My husband, Antonio, and I have been making glass beads for about 2 1/2 years. He makes mostly hollow focals and I make sets and focals. I've been making a lot of goddess beads recently. I like to make goddesses that looke like something you would find n an arceological dig somewhere. Like something someone would have owned hundreds of years ago.

All my beads are mandrel wound using Vitrofond and Moretti glass. Some are as large as 45mm. I like to use filigrana on the sides so that a spiral window of light occurs. I seem to get my best inspirations when in 'twilight' sleep. I experience what psychologists call "hypnogogic' imagery when in the state between being awake and asleep. Using this imagery, I can see the bead I am planning to make. I use this as an excuse to my wife so I can sleep in. --"But honey....I AM working!"

Goddess beads

Goddess beads

I started making goddess beads that I wanted to look like something you would find in an archeological dig somewhere. Like something some ancient person carried on them.

Then they started getting a little bit....sexier?
