Thomas Kite creates sculpture and flat Art employing various combinations of hot worked and engraved glass, stone, and metal. Our web site is at http://www.thoskitedesign.com .
These are cast and cold worked glass modules created to prototype a concept for a large installation potentially involving 100s of kinetic forms. Forms moving thru time, the rebirth and entropy of that movement, and the interplay of randomness vs. synchronicity - underlie all of nature. These studies are the 1st step toward an installation that explores such a landscape. There is a video here- http://www.thoskited...

This technique is a new direction for us. The pieces demand substantial cold working to bring them to life. The coarse quality of the cast surface makes the ground and engraved surfaces all the more interesting.

This set of 4 panels is meant to maintain an open feeling of the glass defining and being cut into by the space around it. The optical effects of the surfaces are done w/ the idea of passing by and thru this interaction. Each panel is roughly 36"x22"x3/4". They are held inplace by only the top and bottom so the exposed vertical edges can help express the movement w/in each panel.

The brilliant-cut elements in these two pieces are meant to work with the colors and forms in an attempt to express a gently magical/lyrical quality.

These pieces are recent formal studies of line. They employ simple lamp worked glass linear design elements that are then incorporated into larger fused designs.
