Notorious Nomad remixed by 2Pakoh...
east meets West....
(note*Im not bashing Nomad...
I simply like to take whatever someone says is not "art" and put it up as "art" to make them question themselves. I tought Nomad was bashed on so much i would flip it around to say even a Nomad piece can be art in the right context. Society might say a pipe is not "art". A pipemaker might say a Nomad pipe could never be "art". I say Never say Never. Licence to Kill. Die another Day. Octopussy.)*

"Posting Glass Pipes on GlassArtists.org ---------------------------------------- Because non-functional pipe pieces have started to crop up I have further clarified the "no pipes" rule for GlassArtists.org. Functional pipe pieces may not be posted, and non-functional pipe art is allowed. A non-functional pipe is one that is either impossible or would be very difficult to actually use as a smoking device, one that is a part of a larger art piece, or one that is so large, awkward, or otherwise impractical that it's very unlikely that it's owner would ever consider using it as a smoking device. I think to most of you who make pipes this distinction should be fairly clear but if you have a true borderline case let me know and I will consider it. Please note that I will not make an exception just because a pipe is especially elaborate, beautiful, expensive or artistic, as long as it looks like it COULD be used as a functional piece." -from site admin

I like the Rolling Stone as well
Thank you kindly for your concern Mr. Tubbyglass. It has been only hope that a service would become available for those of us posting on glassartists.org who may have fallen derelict in our writing abilities. I greatly anticipate the improvements in grammer, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, composition, and the exclusion of made-up words that will surely ensue. As an admirer of articulate composition it is with great pride that I become indoctrinated into your program. I wish you providence in your endeavor.

touche....
yes, it may be more dificult to qualify somethng as "art" in a medium based so much in technique, but if one wants to push themselves beyond the limits of dexterial practices it is a necessary endevor. It is through the arduous tasks and daily practices that one must first command control of the medium before one can truely test its boundries. You must learn the rules before you can break them.
If your goal is acceptance in the contemporary craft gallery or the art museum exhibtion, then you and your work are subjuect to the notions of the curators and audiences of such establishments. If one simply wish to put forth in the world what one thinks is missing from said world, then your own mind is your limitation.
For there is a liberation if the mind of the viewer overcomes the strain and cracks that a fellow practioner might not see as creativity. In such an instance The fellow practioner is at a disadvantage of the open minded viewer. An open minded viewer transcends the medium and its baggage.
correct my spelling if I am wrong....
