Kalo or Taro was the staple food crop of Hawaii and many other indeginous cultures.
I've been working on this one for a long while now, Finally came up with a base that accents the kalo. I took a class on glass casting and the base was the result of my first project. The leaves are a mix of clear boro, moss, forrest green and have been sandblasted, the corm is aurora powder over clear boro and the base is made from cast bullseye glass.

thanks guys!
sand blasting was tedious or more like the masking, drawing and cutting was. The cast glass part really wasnt that complicated Erik, but was very time consuming. That thing spent 63 hours in the kiln ramping up fusing and ramping down! Gives it nice bulk though. Thanks again I really value your guys opinions. Aloha Jup

nice
great job incorporating the two techs. I love how it turned out. You should keep pushing yourself on the plant theme they are coming out really clean and it's something different from your norm.
