This includes work I've done as a developing artist as well as some more recent pieces. All of the work is original, construction done with the copper foil method. I am still trying to get a studio set up in my home in Syracuse, NY; which is certainly not the cultural capitol of anything but I figure I should start out where the cost of living is such that a starving artist doesn't actually have to starve.

The next time I make a fire screen that's supposed to stand on its own I'm consulting a physics text. Makes an interesting window too.

2' x 2' panel, partially plated, hand crafted lacewood framework. Summer 2000.

1.25' length, stemmed from a few free-form fish commissions in 2001.

1.25' length, another fish. This one I just sold, Au revoir, cichlid.

2'1" x 1'1"; Crafted for a small kitchen window that afforded an unfortunate view of the neighbors, 2003.

What, it's a blue ginko leaf.

It's a little mini glass heart you can sew on your sleeve. Some people might point out that it looks like it's been broken. Then you can sadly say, "but it's all soldered back together and still works pretty well."

A fairly faithful rendition of a Trogonoptera brookiana birdwing butterfly.

This one's a favorite of mine. The tabletop rests on a cheap potted plant stand and attaches with clips for summer use.

Some of the glass is pretty dark but this shot lights up most of it.

Of course in Syracuse a garden table doesn't get a huge amount of use. Luckily the Vanishing Nautilus table doubles as a hanging panel.
|
The story is that I taught a good friend how to make stained glass and he made a big realistic red heart. And I broke it (accidentally). So I made him this one to replace it.

Hello, my name is Byron Norelius, and I've been working with stained glass for about 10 years. My formal training is in biology and conservation ecology. This background in the natural sciences has greatly influenced my style and subject matter. All of the design work is my own. Comments, questions, and commission inquiries are welcome and appreciated. Thanks, and enjoy.
