Carl and Arlene,
I just wanted to email you and let you know how much I enjoyed being a part of your copper foil stained glass, lead channel stained glass, and abrasive etching workshops last week. It was a wonderful learning experience for me and really gave me the boost in confidence that I have been looking for in order to get a foundation established for my own workshop and stained glass business. I felt that the money I invested in attending your workshop at Avalon was a well spent investment. The things that I learned during the seven days in your workshop will help me greatly as I move forward with my stained glass plans in the future.
Carl, you are an outstanding instructor and I felt you were very thorough as we moved through each step of the process. You seemed to have all of the required knowledge regarding making stained glass panels using both the copper foil and lead channel methods that anyone could ask for. I was very impressed with your sense of imagination and the things that you do with stained glass panels.
I have already made me a list of things to purchase for my workshop. Included in the list is a sand blast cabinet so I can use the etching skills that I learned during my visit.
Arlene, I did not attend any of your art classes but I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your artistic work that you had displayed and hanging in your art studio. You are very talented and have respectfully used your talent well. I hope to possibly attend one of your workshops in glass slumping and using the kiln one day in future.

Paisano Cheese Tray 1073

"Paisano Cheese Tray 1073©" is appoximately 10" x 8". The artist has used a clear recycled wine bottle that is fused at 1465° F for about 9 hours from start to finish. She then uses a trade secret method to reattach the original label and create a finish that is glass hard without burning up the lable. The total time from start to finish with all the stages of creating this piece of functional art is about 6 days. Whenever she fuses a clear wine bottle, she attaches the original label, picture or copy of art work under the the fused glass so the top cutting surface is pure glass.

This is part of award winning American artist Arlene Wright-Correll's "Green Planet Series Recycled Fused Glass" series whereby the artist takes any glass object or broken glass and creates a piece of functional art out of it or with it. Now you can use it to serve cheese. This piece, after use should be hand washed in order to preserve its finish. Using normal cheese cutting implements this glass cheese tray will last a long time.

About the artisan, Carl Correll. (1933 to ____) A mechanical genius and entrepreneur over many years, at the age of 66 he decided to take all his talents and use them in his stained glass studio. He keeps busy and teaches workshops to students. His work is much sought after. His studio is at Avalon Stained Glass School & Creativity Center at 100 Dave Wintsch Rd. in Munfordville, KY. He loves teaching and his students love the ease in which they learn. He does windows, panels, large and small art pieces and a lot of commission work including fraternal logos. His commission work is in much demand because of his reasonable prices. You can call 270 524 9567 for an appointment to view the art pieces or to discuss a special order. Studio hours are Tues-Fri 10 am to 6 pm. Sat. 8 am-noon. You too, can learn how easy it is to do stained glass, lead-channel glass, fused glass and more.
