I enjoy creating all kinds of styles of lampwork beads, but my favorites (at the moment) are sculptural and organics. I like the reactions between the different types of glasses. I sell most of my beads on eBay (ID alddesigns) and my jewelry pieces at www.alddesigns.etsy.com . If you see something you like I may be able to construct a similar piece. It will always be slightly different...part of the charm of lampwork...always an original!

I have loved the paintings and art of the native Australians since the first time I set eyes on them. Simple symbols formed into intricate designs that tell a story--what a brilliant inspiration for beads! These are in no way REAL dreamtime art, but an appreciative nod towards a beautiful art form.

I just got a very large set of mini punches...lots of fabulous shapes to try out...dragonflies, dolphins, and even a castle....this is where I will be posting my finished beads...the technique is trickier than it looks...it is hard not to melt or distort the silver foil.

I have just started a series of bird beads. It has been challenging to create a form that will hang well and avoid having fragile pieces that can be easily broken.

These bookmarks are really nice...they really keep your place well and look really cool too. My own lampworked beads have been strung onto 1 mm leather cord. I try to find a charm to match the bead. I think the hummingbird one is my favorite.

I really like making bracelets the best as far as jewelry is concerned...I have been currently working on themed bracelets, with little charms that match the beads.

THis is yet another style of cat I have decided to try...these are very colorful and remind me of patterned fabric. I like to think of them as Kaleidoscope Kats.

These cats are inspired by Asian ivory ojime, and Japanese Maneki Neko, Lucky cats...some are more elegant and others are just a lot of fun!

A prospective customer suggested that I try making dolphins on one of my Ocean seascape beads. I don't know why I had never thought to do this, but as soon as I tried I felt the magical tingle of a new brilliant idea. Thank you Rhoda!

I haven't made very many pairs of earrings with my beads, but after making this pair of earrings I know I will be making more!

when I started making glass beads my first focus was learning how to make floral beads. Here are encased florals AND raised florals AND pressed florals.

This was something new that I decided to try...they seem to be fairly popular and I believe they are pretty versatile in many jewelry designs. I just love folk art and I have been greatly inspired by Warren Kimble and E. Smithson.

I adore fossils! I love to hunt for them, love to collect them. These beads are really cool...they have been wrapped in copper foil and then they have leaves of pure silver put on...the silver is carefully melted in and then it reacts with the copper....it looks like fossilized leaf impressions...here and there you may also see touches of amber--another fossil.

I never thought I would enjoy making these goddesses as much as I do. The first ones I made were ocean themed, but the latest have more of an "earthy" appeal.

I am such a hummingbird fanatic! I love to see them zipping around...this one holds still long enough for me to admire.

As it may be evident, I love landscapes...AND trees! Wouldn't you know that I also love Impressionist paintings? These are my own kind of hommage to the Impressionistic greats such as Monet, Manet, and Van Gogh....the thing is...these beads had no actual painting involved!

Ancient artifacts can be a huge inspiration. Whether it is Egyptian amulets, Asian Ojime, or Celtic carvings it all holds a tremendous allure to me!

I love to make landscapes..."painting with glass". These beads are a magical concoctions of glass colors, frits, enamel powders and pure silver. They combine to create a landscape that calls to you and wants you to come explore.

I also have a beach section, but I kind of felt these deserve a section of their own...the entire look is very different. I am really going for a painted appearance here. I have developed (what I feel is) a great technique for ocean waves and a realistic shore...these are some of my favorites!

I don't make a lot of sets usually, but that is going to change because I just started making these themed bracelets...I am really enjoying them and know I will be making lots of fun sets to incorporate in my designs.

I usually make bracelets because I have a hard time settling down to make a whole set...usually after about 5 beads I am ready to move on to something new, but I am trying to change that.

I kind of like to meld a few different styles...I like ocean themes and organic themes and you will see some crossing over between.

I put these under a sculptural category because these beads have palm trees that have been created in raised relief. All of the palm tree components are individually created before I begin to make the beads.

I love making these! It is fun to see people do a double take when they look at them....my latest are a bit more whimsical with exotic colors, so that isn't as likely to happen.

I am such a great lover of trees! My maiden name, Derrough is of Gaelic orgin meaning "Black Oak". The ancient Celts had a great respect for the trees and felt them to be actual spiritual beings. Here I have tree goddesses, Norse Mythological trees (Yggdrasil), and the Celtic Tree of Life.

My personal website is located at www.alddesigns.com . Each of these pieces is an individual piece of art and pretty much one of a kind. It is possible for me to create similar pieces upon request, but they will always have some variation. Thank you for visiting!
