(Boro/Borosilicate/Pyrex Glass Beads)

Inspired by the Ocean............. These beads were inspired by the ocean.
I moved from the coast to the desert for a while and couldn't help but miss the water. So, I decided to make some beads in my studio to ward off the cravings.....Lol

More Ocean Inspired Beads

Here are a few more beads that I have made that remind me of the ocean. They are a little more time consuming than most but the outcome is pretty neat. Some have 3mm Gilson opal spheres and colored tentacles reaching through the clear encasement, or they just look like an Ocean Motif to me.

Ocean Inspired Beads from Jan "06"

Ocean Inspired Beads from Jan "06"

Here are a few more ocean inspired beads that I have created. I first started making these beads because I moved to Nevada and missed the ocean, now I am hooked. It took a long time for me to figure out how to make these but the outcome is well worth the effort to me. :o)

These beads were inspired by sea anenomes. there are green tentacle like areas shooting up through the clear encasement. I believe the color green is Glass alchemy's Amazon Night.

Here's another shot. These guys are hard to capture correctly depth wise. The two smaller beads are Irrid and Northstars' discontinued Moss Green.

This bead is large measuring 26mm x 20mm. I had to turn on my big burners for this guy. It is filled with cane and implosion corals, barnacles and ribbon cane for a sea weed effect.

This bead has a 3-d closed anemone, and black and white cane work swirling about. I used Glass alchemy's Silver strike 3, Teal Carnival, along with Northstar moss and Ninja.

This is the other side of the bead. I put an open anemone on this side. For some reason it reminds me of a Tim Buton animation or something. Must be the Black and White.

This set was made with purple luster and amazon bronze frit, just to spice things up I tossed in some metal shavings from the jewelry shop. These beads were flame-struck.

I have been working with glass for about 3 years.

Aside from borosilicate torch-work I enjoy sculptural ceramics, pottery, lapidary work, acrylic paints, and lost wax casting. I enjoy pretty much anything that I can visually express myself with, so I guess you could say that I am a multi-media artist. I am also currently enrolled and taking classes to get my Liberal Arts Degree.
