Welcome

Living in Portland, OR – I have had the pleasure of working closely with Bullseye, Northstar, Uroboros and Glass Alchemy. It’s a lot of glass industry to have in my backyard and it’s been a blessing to my career to have all their support. Mostly I work in borosilicate glass - but more recently I have been making a lot of large glass installations (mobiles inspired by Alexander Caulder) that are made with fused soft glass.

I teach torchworking at Aquila Art Glass (www.aquilaartglass.com) and I can always be found on the weekends down at the Portland Saturday Market (www.portlandsaturdaymarket.com) where I do live demonstrations and sell my glass art.

I’ve always enjoyed getting to see other artists work on this site – so I thought it was about time I go and put some pictures up. I hope you enjoy.

Visit my website (all home-cooked) www.leahglass.com to find out more about me and see more of my work.

Thanx!

Glass Mobiles

Glass Mobiles

Directly inspired by the work of Alexander Caulder - these mobiles are large dynamic pieces that utilize the beauty of glass to add a bright funky pop to any home/office/garden.

Most of these mobiles I make custom designed for their spaces - but I do create quite a few to display with me at the Portland Saturday Market, sell on my website (www.leahglass.com) and also they are available at Fireborne Gallery here in Portland, OR.

The first one I made was for Sam Adams, our commissioner here in Portland - for his assistant's office in City Hall. The piece fills a large 10ft window - its all large red circles and one black circle - reminicent of Caulder's dream about mars.

Since then I have been creating like crazy. Keeping up with demand. Check them out - they really are fun!

Glass Yoga Ladies

Glass Yoga Ladies

These little glass yoga ladies are a product of my public demonstrations.

I do yoga in the morning on my good days. I love the balance it brings to my life.

These little yoga ladies are usually made while I am at the Portland Saturday Market doing public demonstrations early in the morning. I like making these little ladies and living vicariously thru them!

They make me laugh - they are quite small, but they do the best yoga poses! Its hilarious putting them in all sorts of positions that sometimes I find difficult to achieve in real life!

Other than if you happen to be in Portland, Or - and see me at the market, the only place that you can purchase these devine little gifts for your favorite fan of yoga (they make a great gift for a yoga teachers at only $10/per)

Handmade Glass Rings

Handmade Glass Rings

I've been making and selling glass rings since 2001 - and its been a sheer pleasure! I've made zillions of rings and I still love it! There is just something about the small round shape that I just can't get enough of. My process has been featured in Glass Art Magazine (Nov/Dec 2004). If you are ever in Portland Oregon, come find me at the Portland Saturday Market in Oregon every weekend (saturday and sunday) where you can even watch your own custom ring be made!

Mini Glass Trees

Mini Glass Trees

I love trees. These guys are all pretty small - usually around 1" in diameter. I make them frequently as live demonstrations, the fall and spring always inspire me to make some really interesting ones... and occasionally I bring them into my photo studio to play around with new photo techniques - they are quite photogenic if I say so myself! And no less precious in person. The first tree I ever made was about the size of a football. They've grown over the years to be very small.

When I was a little girl I was always dragging my mom into miniature stores...

Enjoy.
