Fairy vessel

Fairy vessel

This is a three section piece, stopper, vessel, stand. It really took some fine tuning to get this thing standing level...a little more history on this piece..I made this in 2001, when I had been blowing glass for just about two years, these two sectional vessel pieces, the fairy and the coiling spear are the two pieces that made me believe in myself as an artist. There is nothing conceptually significant about the fairy, but I did a lot of designing and tinkering and it didn't end up in a pile on the floor! SUCCESS!!!

    awesome
Rosario Anastasi Jr: Good stuff Micah. Just a ?...The detail is so good, the fingers, the hair, the wings...all full of detail. What make you decide not to do a face? and one more ?......Why are you taking the Human Form class????
    Your the man.

    thanks
Micah Evans: I didn't do a face because faces are hard! i figure if i cant do a nice face just imply one and i'll be better off. Also that was probably the third figure I had ever done at that time, i was just excited to finish it! A class with Mickelsen isn't just about the subject being taught, if you pay attention in his classes you will learn far more from yourself than him. He is the king of pushing you in the right direction, all you have to do is be ready to be pushed!

    like the concept a lot.
Flamethrower: yeah, faces are hard, I practiced a lot on them, as I was taught by a master of figures, John Squeo, an obscure artist who took me under his wing. I love doing fantasy.
