This summer in Ventura, Ca (2005)has inspired some new work. learning is so fun!
I made this all in a night, and I could not wait to hold the octopus..so I took it out of the kiln at 300 and it suffered some cracking in the brain area...

the shell and marble are made for each other but not attatched
