Insects and Friends

Posted by RoSGlassWorld on 9/23/2005
Sculpture blown and solid focusing on insects and related themes. I took a class with Vitorrio Costantini last year at Corning, Birds, fish and insects. I took the class really to see him, We met in Italy originally I was able to watch him work for a few days. I was impressed with the insects, but they were a bit creepy too. It's funny I'm getting bug requests now and after making a few I'm enjoying making them. I find legs to be very challenging!

Amazing to see close up of faces in macro photos of these creatures. I will definitely be making more! So expressive, I had no idea until I researched photos for inspiration. This one looked like a puppy!

"I went to Disney world with my family when i was about eight years old. There was a booth in the center of Main Street, where someone was lampworking using the crochet technique. That was it for me, it was magic. I spent hours that first day, constantly begging my parents to still be left there to watch, thankfully they agreed! Since then I've been facinated with glass and its movement".

The Praying mantis is fab! It reminds me of old B-Dinosaur movies. Great job, what an inspiration you are:).
