These designs are from ancient Alutiiq petroglyphs found on Kodiak Island, Alaska. I call my version vitro-glyphs because I am writing in glass. The pieces are not actually beads with holes in them. I wanted them to look like stones, so no holes yet. They are boro and the frit is blue moon.

I have been making hollow forms: lamps, perfumes, ornaments, etc for many years. About two years ago I added beads, both off mandrel and mandrel-made to my repertorie. Here are some of the better ones.

Boro spinning tops. The Top of Fashion. Jewelry you can play with, toys you can wear! I make holding findings for some of these so they can be worn as pendants and unclipped to play with. They spin nicely or they don't get out of my studio!!!

Art Glass Invitational 2005. I took over 900 pics, mostly sequences of demos, but also some general pics of people, the building dedication, etc. I will be editing and putting them up in separate pages. It was a fantatic week, full of learning, glass, good people and good times. -Don- (last updated 9/9/05)

I have been working boro since 1974, when I owned a crafts gallery and teaching studio in Anchorage. A lot has changed since then! I make perfume bottles, oil lamps and ornaments. I also make jewelry with boro and do all my own metal work.
