made in honor and memory of Yamato.(rip)
Utensils are used to serve and eat food in order to nourish life. This piece represents the balance in life between beauty and suffering. The spoon or ladle is a metaphor for transcending suffering through gaining enlightment and wisdom through nourishing experiences like sharing moments with friends and loved ones, and creating art and friendship.
collaboration between Daisuke Saito and Slinger.
made live at the BAE 2008 in Tokyo.
arigato to Lunar Cycle crew and all my Japanese friends, one love!!

here's a couple flics of my installation at SOFA NY 2009. Represented by SIlica Galleries in Philadelphia. The theme of the work revolves around money, in both a personal and political fashion. As an artist, money and business is a frustrating yet necessary evil. There is "art" and there are "products for sale", and those cross over to different extents. Andy Warhol had a creative block early in his career and was talking to a gallery owner who told him that he should just "paint what he wanted", which led to his series of dollar bill works. My series of pieces mash's up american pop culture with an anarchist writing the script. A full cylce takes place in 5 stages, the manifestation of greed, the abuse and disrespect, desecration, hedonism, and corporate control of your mind at all costs.
there are 25 separate pieces, each is etched and painted glass and was custom framed in a high quality black frame.

Jason Lee and Marbleslinger. no 1 of 8 made in august 2002 in Burlington, VT.
Jason did the green wig wag and i filled in the center window. We each kept one marble out of the series and this one is in my personal collection. Been meaning to take some photos of it forever. Each mib had a matching wig wag window and then different elements added to that. These were really fun to make, and i've been meaning to expand on this idea since then.
Mad props to the GURU Mr Jason LEE, one of my biggest personal influences to challenge myself in this medium. Never ending thanx Jason, i might have given this glass thing up along time ago if it wasnt for your positive energy and friendship

heres a marble i made in december of 2003, i sent it as a gift to wil menzies and his family, not only does this guy put out the FLOW magazine which helps connect and promote our scene, he makes bomb tools and orginal glass art, and on top of that spends his "free" time doing things like the ornament auction to raise money for good causes like the eugene glass school, so this was my little way of saying, thank you WIL (and JEN)!!

yea i dont make too many mibs anymore simply because i think its a pain in the ass to round em off.... love doing the designs, hate the tediousness of using marble molds to make it "perfectly" round... been there dont that, but hadnt done that in a minute, so i hit it, might hit it a few more times, then quit for some next shit...
