Focal Beads 2005

Focal Beads 2005

Posted by Christina on 7/11/2005
These are some of my loose Focal beads that I have made. I love to make focals because I can concentrate on just one bead and really play with colors, technique, etc. It is also nice to not have to worry about size, since they don't belong to a set.
Red Blooms
This bead was made with a NS blue moon base and NS ruby strike flowers.

Dream Weaver
This bead was made with a GA perssimon base and then fumed, rolled in frit, and then the flowers were applied with clear. The clear frit gave the bead a web-like effect through the fuming.

Tribal Wars
This bead was made with amber purple and flame struck. It has clear stringer scrolling too. Clear stringer work is sometimes interesting....

Dichroic Water Garden
This bead was fun to make, I usually don't work with dichroic glass and I think that I may start using it a little bit more now that I have gotten the hang of it. The flowers are made with Amber-Purple, and barely struck at all.

I have been working with glass for about 3 years.

Aside from borosilicate torch-work I enjoy sculptural ceramics, pottery, lapidary work, acrylic paints, and lost wax casting. I enjoy pretty much anything that I can visually express myself with, so I guess you could say that I am a multi-media artist. I am also currently enrolled and taking classes to get my Liberal Arts Degree.
