I long to understand the assembly technique used in thease vessels. I love to make this type of work, I hope to spend the rest of my life working with the ideas represented here. After six years of lampworking I know that I am only at the starting line for this kind of work. I have to sell a LOT of glass rings to have the time and materials to make pieces like this. If you have any intrest in this work, please dear God, call me and tell me so, I need the encouragement. Wile you are at it, yell at me for getting off the torch to answer the phone. I put everything I have into the work posted here. That is the funny thing with glass, effort does not count, what it looks like is what counts and I have a long way to go. I would like to thank those few people who have purchased this type of work from me: you are fullfilling a dream. Thank you for investing in my life, in a few years it will be worth it (I hope). Thank you.

Chained Zanfirico Urn
This vessel is about the size of a grapefruit and has an all glass chain and 'hook lock' lid. By far my most favorate glass thing I ever made. Sold in TX at Kitrell-Rifk... thank you so very much. You push me forward!

Zanfirico Dish
This is some early effort, kinda wacky. I have been told that the Zanfirico technique "should" be done in all white. They might be right. I sold this piece at a glass show and just about cracked my face wide open with a smile. Thank you VERY much.

Zanfirico Dish
This is some more early effort. I don't for the life of me know why I have made and sold or given away work with out photograhing it, but I have. I think of this piece often. Not the nicest, but a good memory, glad to have this photo. Thank you Patty W.

Zanfirico Dish
If you like the colors please note that it is in fact NOT the colors you see here. Blame the $100 digital camera. Published in Bead and Button, owned by Doug Rimsnider, thank you Doug, it is a real compliment for you to take my work home. Need another?

Zanfirico Dish
I like the ruffeled edge thing and I don't like it at the same time. This is a two piece dish (top, stem/foot) kind of fun thinking interms of two peices rather than three. When I'm making the lower part I get that "which way does it go" thing going on.

Zanfirico Dish
If I can't sell it (always a problem) I just give it away (also a problem). I gave this to Goerge O'Grady in Tucson, him and his brother Kevin have always been suportive of me. Kevin has helped me become the glass ring dude that I am. Thank you Kevin!

Zanfirico Dish
This piece is about a foot tall, and is owned by Lukin (TX lampworker). This piece went togeather very smoothly but the proportions are wack, colors are too. I have to learn one step at at time I guess.

Zanfirico Vessel
I work out of a 99LS Aim kinl and this thing doen't fit by about three inches. I used 12mm rods and many handfulls of beads to block up the holes to keep it at temp. Some how it made it to my budies kiln the next day. For sale at Kitrel-Rifkind in TX.

Chained Zanfirico Urn
Same piece of work, pictured here with the lid open. I have spent a huge chunk of time working on the chain concept and have some good new work cooking. Need to improve some skills real quick thou to get them finished.

Zanfirico Studies
Pictured here is a 'frumple' dish and two studies of Zanfirico vessels with a color background like the Zanfirico beads that I make. I just don't have the heat in my CC burner and I don't have the cash in the bank for a better burner. Time, time, time.

Going to conferences like GAS (2005,4,3,2,1), ISGB (2005,4,1) or Salem (2005), internet inspiration like this site, Flow Mag,and talking with glass friends on the phone is the only way I survive. I love to see people work hard, to make visions in glass come true, because I want that for myself. I am pleased with my work not because it's good glass (my pieces need a lot of improvement) but because I know I put my heart into it. I am proud to say that I learned from Big Daddy Bruce. The biggest inspiration I have and the only reason I can push myself, the only way I can find the energy to work hard and stay focused comes from my glass friends-teachers who also ‘get-er-done’ tough everyday: Jason Ryner,Keysha Whitsel,Jason Herring,Kevin & Keith Engelman,Greg Hoff,Andrew Brown,Will Menzies,Steve Sizelove,Rosburg, and Solfiel. If you see me not working, kick me in the head. One Love, God bless and above all else: KEEP IT HOT! hwc05

    Zanfirico studies
Rex Trimm: If you don't already have it... Dick Marquis's book has some killer cane ideas for even more Zanfirico stuff. Milissa makes some that are pretty awesome by looking at the cane snips. We just can't figure out the pillar inside one that opposses the outer. But working on it.

    Good stuff.
