If you want to explore the exciting world of kiln casting and mold making with one of the world's experts, this is the class for you. Join D&L Art Glass Supply and Milon Townsend in this extensive, hands-on introduction to mold making and kiln casting and discover a new art glass expression.
Day one you'll learn the principles of lost wax casting to create 3-dimensional artwork in a kiln. You'll learn to fill a mold with glass, write a firing program to melt and cool the glass and how to divest the finished piece. Day two you'll learn simple, effective methods for making re-usable silicone rubber molds from your own artwork or objects. These molds may then be used hundreds of times to cast wax, investment or even chocolate.
Each student will create several finished molds as well as a small and medium scale cast glass sculpture.
Students are asked to bring an assortment of objects no larger than will fit in a 3" cube.
The class fee includes everything- all glass and lab fees, snacks and refreshments, and a continental breakfast and lunch each day.
